The Abchanchu is a legendary vampiric creature from the Aymara region of Bolivia, considered the most feared evil being among the Aymara people. This shapeshifting vampire dwells in desolate caves and grottoes of the altiplano, the high plateau of the Andes Mountains. According to tradition, the Abchanchu is the bastard brother of Ekeko, born from an extramarital affair of the Mallku of Chakamita with his concubines.
