Abu Al-Salasil
Abu al-Salasil ('Father of Chains') is a terrifying figure of Gulf Arab folklore — a towering, dark-skinned being wrapped in heavy iron chains whose clatter fills coastal settlements at night. Parents invoke him to keep children indoors, and he is repelled by reciting Quranic verses such as Ayat al-Kursi. One tale traces him to a shackled slave who fled mad into the wilderness.
