Adtjis-ietnie is the Sami goddess of disease, a malevolent figure from southern Sami (Swedish Sapmi) tradition. According to the myth of the Golden Time, she was the wife of Adtjis (the greedy brother) who came from the underworld carrying a sack of diseases. When Adtjis murdered his good brother Naevie over land jealousy, Adtjis-ietnie released all the diseases from her sack into the world, ending the Golden Age when there was no sickness, cold, night, or sorrow.
