Afriq is a malevolent demon or nature spirit in Berber (Amazigh) folklore, particularly in the mythology of ancient Numidia (modern Algeria and Tunisia). The name Afriq is etymologically linked to the name of the continent Africa itself, as the Romans named the province Africa after the Berber tribe of the Afri and their local deity.
