Alpamysh Batyr
Alpamysh Batyr is the central hero of the Kazakh version of the Alpamysh epic, a mighty batyr in traditional warrior attire who rides his magical horse Baychibar. Defender of his people, loyal husband, and wise leader, he represents the ideals of Turkic warrior culture. Recorded versions reach some 14,000 verses, performed by bakhshi singers to dombra accompaniment.
