Anghir
Anghir is a giant water bird of Buryat creation mythology, an immense diving bird able to reach the depths of the primordial ocean. As the obedient servant of the creator god, it ventures bravely into the unknown and brings up the first earth, the act through which the world and humanity come into being. Anghir is the Buryat Earth-Diver figure found across Siberian and Central Asian traditions.
