Kianda is the most beloved and widely recognized water goddess in Angolan mythology, a powerful mermaid-like deity who presides over the seas, lakes, rivers, and forests. In the Kimbundu language, 'kianda' translates to a fabulous mythological monster or water god, though she is far more complex than a simple mermaid figure.
