Antelope Spirit
The Antelope Spirit is a messenger and omen spirit in Comanche mythology. In the story of Hotuiyi, a Comanche hunting party pursuing antelope encountered a strange antelope with glowing eyes—a spirit messenger. The antelope led the hunters to a hidden spring and traced a path around a canyon where enemies lay in ambush, saving them from both thirst and attack. Thereafter, the Comanche considered antelope sightings as omens: if the antelope runs east, good fortune follows; if west, danger approaches
