Apep
Apep, the great serpent of chaos, is the eternal enemy of the sun god Ra in Egyptian mythology. Each night he coils in the underworld to swallow the solar barque, and each dawn Ra's crew, aided by Seth and the magic of Isis, repels him. Storms were read as his writhing, and his name, written with the cut-hieroglyph, was ritually destroyed.
