Asura
In Indian religions, asuras are power-seeking beings locked in eternal conflict with the more benevolent devas. Originally, in the Rig Veda, the term asura referred to a class of powerful beings that included both gods and demons, but over time it came to exclusively denote demonic forces opposing the divine order. In Hinduism, asuras dwell in the subterranean realms of Patala and wage constant war against the devas for control of the cosmos.
