Atai Ulan
Atai Ulan is the leader of the eastern, malevolent Tenger sky-gods in Buryat tradition, lifelong antagonist of Abai Geser in the Epic of Gesar. A gigantic dark figure, his body parts retain monstrous power even in death: dismembered, his scattered remains spawn the demons that plague the world. In one account, disease-spirits from his impaled toe give the mythological origin of gout.
