Awaghzen
Awaghzen is the male ogre of Kabyle and wider Berber oral tales. The most widespread Kabyle terms are awaɣzəniw and wagɣzən; regional variants include aruliw and arariw, and dialectal Arabic lɣul. Ogres and ogresses live in the wild, have a devouring appetite and are stupid: they do not master fire or cooking and eat their prey raw and alive. They are solitary, asocial and incapable of forming a family, and their main weapons are fear and devouring.
