Baba Yaga (Polish Baba Jaga, Czech Ježibaba) is the West Slavic forest witch, closely related to the Russian figure. Dwells in a hut on chicken legs in dense Masovian oak forests. Same mortar/pestle/broom attributes, same three-task tests. May reflect Finno-Ugric influence (stilt-storehouse huts). Ježibaba differs in appearance and tale types.
