Baghalate Qbūr (Grave Mule)
The Grave Mule (Baghalate Qbūr) is a spectral, mule-like being in Moroccan folk belief, tied to death, taboo and moral boundaries. It punishes individuals who transgress ritual obligations associated with death and burial. Its affliction is understood as a spirit-induced illness and is treated through ritual healing. Scholarship pairs it with Aisha Qandisha as two complementary figures through which Moroccan cosmology explains illness and enforces social norms: one seductive, one punitive.
