Jinn of Bahla

spirit · Oman · Middle East

The oasis town of Bahla in Oman's interior is known as the 'City of Jinn,' long reputed to be infested with spirits. Its most famous legend holds that two jinn sisters raised the town's 13-kilometre protective wall and created its irrigation system in a single night. Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the centre of stories of phantom blazes, animated desert storms, and men transformed into donkeys.
