Bahri Spirits (Moroccan Sea Jinn)
Bahri spirits (from Arabic 'bahr' meaning sea) are a class of water-dwelling jinn in Moroccan folklore that inhabit the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea along the Moroccan coast. They are considered the most dangerous of all jinn in Moroccan belief, as they are completely alien to human nature and do not share the terrestrial realm with humans. They appear as half-fish, half-human creatures with green eyes, scaled skin, and webbed hands and feet. Bahri spirits are blamed for shipwrecks, drownings, and disappearing fishermen. They enchant sailors with beautiful songs (like the Greek Sir
