Baikal (Lake Spirit)
Baikal, 'Old Man Baikal,' is the personified spirit of the world's deepest lake and a founding father in Buryat lore. Stern and possessive, he raised his daughter Angara until she fled him for the hero Yenisei; enraged, he hurled the Shaman Stone after her, yet she escaped to the sea. The lake remains a sacred, living entity honored with offerings.
