Baron Samedi
Baron Samedi ('Baron Saturday') is the loa of the dead, graveyards, and the crossroads in Haitian Vodou, chief of the Gede family of spirits. He is depicted in black tails, a top hat, and dark glasses, with a skull-like face, and is known for macabre jokes and coarse humour. He presides over burial and the boundary between life and death; his consort is Maman Brigitte.
