Belu
Belu (bilu) are ogres or demons in Burmese folklore and Buddhist Jataka tradition — large, powerful beings of human or animal form, often greedy, gluttonous, and dangerous. In Myanmar they appear as devourers in cautionary tales, sometimes redeemable through the Buddha's teachings. The concept derives from the Sanskrit bhilu and figures prominently in Burmese story and drama.
