Bergfolk (mountain-people) are supernatural beings in Norwegian folklore who live inside mountains and rocky crags. Similar to haugfolk but specifically associated with mountains rather than burial mounds. Bergfolk are a type of underjordiske (hidden people) who have their own society within mountain halls. They are known for kidnapping humans (bergtaking - mountain-taking), where a person would be taken inside the mountain to live with the bergfolk, often for years.
