Bergsrået
The bergsrå (mountain rå) is a Swedish mountain spirit ruling over mines and mineral wealth. It appears as an elderly figure in miner's garb or fine court clothes, sometimes with rocky skin. It can reveal ore deposits to favored humans or cause bergtagning (abduction into the mountain). The 1691 trial of Sven Andersson for intercourse with a bergsrå is a famous historical record.
