Tééhoołtsódii (Big Water Creature) is a powerful water spirit in Navajo mythology who inhabits the deep rivers, springs, and underground waterways of the Navajo homeland. He is one of the underwater pantheon and is associated with the element of water itself. Tééhoołtsódii can bring abundance through flooding and irrigation or destruction through flash floods, and he is appeased through offerings of corn pollen and prayer sticks placed at the water's edge. He is particularly important during the Way of the Sacred Spring, a major healing ceremony that channels the purifying power of water
