Bison Guardian of Aztec
The American bison never ranged into the Aztec (Mexica) homeland, so this 'Bison Guardian' is a composite invention. Aztec sources do honor earth and fertility powers, notably Cipactli, the primordial earth-crocodile, and Tlaltecuhtli, the earth goddess, to which the entry loosely attaches the bison. Post-contact cattle imagery entered later; this is a modern synthesis, not attested Aztec belief.
