Bison Deity (Shona)
Not independently attested. Bison do not occur in Zimbabwe, and no Shona deity of the bison appears in the ethnographic literature; the input itself errs by calling the bison a creature of the 'African savanna.' Shona spirit-lore centres on Mwari the creator, the mhondoro lion-spirits of dead chiefs and the Zambezi god Nyami Nyami; no buffalo or bison deity is named.
