Bison did not inhabit the lands of the Olmec, and no Olmec bison trickster is attested. The entry recycles a generic 'bison trickster' template onto Olmec and even southern African frames. Mesoamerican tricksters are well documented among foxes, rabbits, and coyotes, but the bison form is a modern invention; the description should be read as a template artifact, not attested belief.
