Boginka
Female Slavic nature spirit of Polish folklore, of forests, fields, lakes, rivers. The name from 'bóg' (god) marks these as minor nature goddesses. Boginki are beautiful enchantresses or hideous hags — broader than the Rusalki (drowned-maiden spirits). They guard wildlife, punishing sport hunting, plant theft, and disrespect; to the respectful they grant fertility, harvests, or protection.
