Boitatá
Boitatá is a legendary fire serpent from Brazilian folklore, deeply rooted in the mythology of the Tupi-Guarani indigenous people and later incorporated into broader Brazilian folk tradition. The name 'Boitatá' comes from the Tupi words 'mboi' (snake) and 'tata' (fire), literally meaning 'fire snake.' Boitatá is a protector spirit of the forests and fields, particularly active during the dry season when wildfires are most common. According to legend, Boitatá was once a giant, blind serpent that survived a great flood by crawling into a hollow log. When the waters receded, the serpent emerged w
