Bouti
The Bouti is a fearsome ogress or she-demon from the folklore of the Afar people of Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Eritrea. According to legend, the Bouti is a shape-shifting female monster held responsible for death, dishonor, fratricide, and familial discord among the Afar. Her legend is so powerful that the name of the country Djibouti is said by some to derive from the phrase defeat of Bouti, following a legendary hero who supposedly vanquished the creature. The Bouti embodies chaos and destruction within the family unit, serving as a cautionary figure about the dangers of unchecked malice
