Brag

animal-spirit · Scotland · Celtic

The Brag is a mischievous shapeshifting goblin from the folklore of Northumbria, Northumberland, and County Durham, particularly associated with the border regions between England and Scotland. Unlike many other fairy steeds, the Brag is not a water horse like the kelpie but rather a land-dwelling trickster that delights in humiliating humans. The most famous example is the Picktree Brag, which was said to haunt the area near Picktree in County Durham and was known for its shape-shifting abilities and wicked sense of humor
