Br'er Buzzard is a trickster character in African American folklore, particularly in Gullah Geechee traditions. As a buzzard (vulture), he is associated with death, transformation, and the sacred. In Gullah belief, the buzzard is not merely a carrion eater but a sacred bird that carries souls back to Africa.
