Br'er Rabbit is the central trickster figure in African American folklore, a small but cunning rabbit who uses his wits to overcome larger, stronger adversaries. Originating from West African hare trickster tales (particularly the Senegal-Benin region), Br'er Rabbit was adapted by enslaved Africans in the American South as a symbol of clever resistance against oppression.
