Bu Draya (also Bu Daryā, meaning 'Father of the Sea' from Persian) is a terrifying sea jinn from Bahraini and Arabian Gulf folklore. Believed to be a malevolent water spirit, Bu Draya appears in the darkest nights to prey on pearl divers and sailors. Described as a huge half-human, half-amphibious creature, it summons winds and controls waters to capsize boats.
