Bukwus Wild Man Of The Woods Kwakwaka Wakw

nature-spirit · Canada · North America

Bukwus (Bakwas) is the wild man of the woods in Kwakwaka'wakw tradition, a small, green-skinned ghost-king with a skeletal face and long curving nose. He prowls the forests, whistling to lure the living toward the realm of the dead; some accounts name him the husband of Dzunukwa, the Cannibal Woman.
