Bultungin
The Bultungin is a werehyena from the folklore of the Kanuri people of Nigeria and the former Bornu Empire around Lake Chad. The name Bultungin comes from the Kanuri language and translates literally to I change myself into a hyena, reflecting the creature's nature as a shapeshifter. Belief in the Bultungin was so strong that certain villages in the Bornu region were traditionally believed to be populated entirely by werehyenas, with the village of Kabultiloa being particularly associated with these creatures
