Mba-Katrè
Mba-Katrè is the hyena of Mossi (Moose) folktales in Burkina Faso, the gluttonous, foolish trickster outwitted at every turn by the cunning hare Mba-Soamba. Published in Folktales from the Moose of Burkina Faso (Langaa, 2010), the paired tales teach children the cost of greed, lack of foresight and unchecked appetite, setting hyena stupidity against hare finesse.
