Buundheex is a shape-shifting spirit in Somali folklore that can transform into any human or animal form to deceive and prey upon victims. Unlike the purely monstrous Dhegdheer, Buundheex is more subtle and insidious, using deception rather than force. The spirit typically appears as a beautiful woman or trusted friend to lure travelers from the path, then reveals its true nature when the victim is isolated.
