Čáhcegearpmaš
Čáhcegearpmaš, also called Vesikäärme, is a water serpent of the Tornedalen region known to Sami and Meänkieli tradition, a close variant of Čáhcerávga, the Northern Sami 'water rávga' — a malevolent water being, shadow of the drowned, that haunts lakes and streams and pulls people, especially children, beneath the surface. The belief remains alive in Sami-language media.
