Catchorrona
Catchorrona ('black dog') is an ominous spectral hound in Cape Verdean folklore, appearing at moonlit crossroads to warn or terrify night wanderers. It induces fear and stealth, repelled by silver bells. Represents dangers of nocturnal travel. Documented in Cape Verdean oral tradition.
