Celestial Moose
The celestial moose is the great elk of Evenki star-lore, read in the constellation of the Big Dipper. In the best-known telling the heavenly hunter Mangi pursues the elk across the sky, the Milky Way is his ski track, and the turning of the northern heavens retells their endless chase, a story of the hunt that shaped the world above.
