Changing Woman
White-painted Woman, the Apache counterpart of Changing Woman, is the mother of the hero twins Child of the Water and Killer of Enemies, whom she bore on White Mountain. She is the ideal of Apache womanhood and the model for the girls' puberty ceremony, which re-enacts her power to age and then grow young again with the seasons.
