Chenoo
The Chenoo is a cannibalistic ice monster of Mi'kmaq and Wabanaki mythology. A Chenoo was originally human, but was transformed through an act of cannibalism or extreme trauma into a monster with a heart of ice and an insatiable hunger for human flesh. Chenoos are enormous, with claws and fangs, and their heart is visible through their translucent ice chest. Unlike the windigo of the northern Algonquian tribes, the Chenoo can potentially be healed and restored to human form through love, prayer, and traditional ceremonies
