Chief No Vitals
Chief No Vitals (also known as No Vitals) is a Crow culture hero who discovered tobacco and established the Tobacco Society (Bacu'sua). According to tradition, he was instructed by the Creator Akbaatatdia to seek the sacred plant at Devils Lake in eastern North Dakota. The Creator told him that the worship of tobacco would help the Crow honor God and maintain their connection to the spirit world.
