Chonchón
The Chonchon is a terrifying creature from Mapuche folklore of Chile and Argentina, described as the detached flying head of a kalku, a Mapuche sorcerer who has transformed through black magic. The Chonchon is one of the most feared beings in Mapuche mythology, representing the dark side of shamanic power and the ultimate expression of malevolent abilities. According to Mapuche tradition, a kalku who has reached the pinnacle of dark arts can separate their head from their body at night and fly through the air to spy on enemies, cast curses, or drink the blood of sleeping victims.
