Chort is an anthropomorphic malevolent spirit or demon in Slavic folk tradition, found across Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Polish, Czech, Slovak, and other Slavic cultures. The term chort represents a complex figure that evolved from pre-Christian Slavic mythology into Christian folk demonology.
