Chukwu (also known as Chineke or Chi Ukwu, meaning "The Great Spirit") is the supreme god of the Igbo people. Chukwu created the cosmos, all lesser deities (alusi), and humanity. Associated with the sun, which is considered the "Eye of God on Earth," Chukwu is all-powerful, all-knowing, and transcendent.
