Chupacabras Boricua is the Puerto Rican regional variant of the legendary Chupacabra cryptid, distinguished by its specific origin in the island's folklore and unique description compared to mainland versions. The name Boricua refers to the Taino name for Puerto Rico, Boriken, making this the original version of the Chupacabra legend that emerged in 1995. The first reported attack occurred in March 1995 in Moca, Puerto Rico, where eight sheep were found dead with puncture wounds and reportedly drained of blood. The name chupacabras meaning goat-sucker was coined by Puerto Rican comedian Silver
