Ciguapa
The Ciguapa is a nocturnal mythical creature from Dominican folklore, described as a wild woman who inhabits the high mountain regions of the island. Her most distinctive feature is that her feet are turned backward, making it nearly impossible for hunters or trackers to follow her footprints. She is deeply tied to the natural world, possessing expert knowledge of medicinal herbs and plants found in the dense tropical forests. The first written account of the Ciguapa appeared in 1866 in the story 'La Ciguapa' by Francisco Javier Angulo Guridi. Some scholars debate whether the legend has Taíno
