Cipactli
Cipactli is a primeval sea monster from Aztec mythology, often described as a gigantic crocodilian-fish-toad hybrid that existed before the creation of the world. In Aztec cosmology, the gods Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl created the earth from Cipactli's body after Tezcatlipoca sacrificed his foot using the monster as bait. The name Cipactli means 'crocodile' or 'caiman' in Classical Nahuatl, and it also represents the first day of the Aztec divinatory calendar, the tonalpohualli, which consists of 260 days. This creature is closely related to Tlaltecuhtli, the earth monster deity, and to Zip
