Not independently attested. The cougar is not native to South Africa, and the input's own text concedes this, substituting the leopard (ingwe), whose skin marks Zulu royalty and regiments. No Zulu ancestor-spirit is recorded in cougar form: ancestral veneration centres on the amadlozi and amathongo, whose animal manifestations are documented creatures such as the python, not New World cats.
