Cougar Deity of Yoruba
Not independently attested in folklore literature. Cougars are not native to West Africa and no cougar deity exists in Yoruba cosmology. The genuine feline symbol is ekun, the leopard, totem of royalty and of the thunder god Shango, who is depicted wearing leopard skin; the entry conflates a cougar with this leopard symbolism.
